Sun Blade MemoryPC Wholesale carries Sun/Oracle Original and 3rd Party memory for all Sun Blade workstations and servers. All of our Sun
memory comes with a lifetime warranty and lifetime technical support, and most modules can ship the same day. We are specialists in Sun memory and
have experts on staff to handle any questions.
Sun Blade servers are modular designs of server computers that are stripped
down of components to minimize physical space. Stripping the server and only
leaving components that enable it to work greatly minimizes space and reduces
power consumption. Unlike the typical rack-mount, a blade enclosure is able to
house multiple sun blade servers hence saving physical space and forming the
blade system. They are ideal for web hosting, cluster computing and
The blade enclosure also provides the necessary services
like power, networking, interconnects and cooling. To eliminate power issues
arising from one power source, the system may have redundant power supplies.
Blade server enclosures may either come with a power supply enclosed or
independent but they provide only one power source for the multiple blade
servers. This has led to lack of reliability as the system cannot offer a
flexible power supply.
The unreliability problem has seen an increase in
the number of rack-mountable UPS (Uninterruptible power supply) units. There has
also been an increase in BladeUPS systems. The BladeUPSs are a three-phase UPS
system with 6U 12kW UPS units that can be used to create a redundant UPS. Due to
the hybrid architecture, BladeUPS cannot be categorized with other UPSs. The
BladeUPS works as a line interactive UPS during normal power supply and then
when there is a fluctuation, it will automatically switch to online mode making
it power efficient. Newer software releases can allow users to set the unit to
exclusively work in online mode.
Having a range of high-performance
computer systems would normally present the problem of overheating but the
ability of the blade enclosures to come with fans with control logic and various
speeds eliminates the problem. The newer blade enclosures also come with liquid
cooling technologies making them unique.
Networking is done through the
network interface controllers or host adapters for Ethernet and fiber channel
storage systems respectively. The blade enclosure may consist of network
interfaces to interconnect devices in addition to the external ports for network
A sun blade server offers accessibility to other computer
devices. A blade server that provides storage, routing, SAN and switching can
provide the services to all computers in the enclosure. In case there is need
for extra local storage, networking professionals or administrators can make use
of the blades.
Sun Blade Server models
servers are divided in to two series; the T Series and then X Series which are
further broken down to 18 server modules. After Oracle acquired Sun Microsystems
in late January 2010, they decided to alter a few things and came up with three
(3) main server modules.
Sun Blade X6270 M2 Server Module:
The X6270 M2 Server Module has two processor sockets, up to 12 cores with
the Intel Xeon processor 5600 Series and offers 18 DIMM slots.
Sun Blade X6275 M2 Server Module:
The X6275 M2 present two nodes and can handle two processors per node giving
a total of four and a maximum of four processors and 24 cores in total with
the Intel Xeon processor 5600 series processor. It also has 12 DIMM slots
Sun Blade X3-2B Server Module:
The X3-2B server module was formally known as the Sun Blade X6270 M3 server
module and is ideal for building enterprise cloud infrastructures. Packed
with an Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600, it supports a maximum of two
processors offering up to 16 cores. With a Sun Blade 6000 Chassis the X3-2B
server has 24 DIMM slots.
